
Softball Set for Louisville Fall Tournament

Cards will play at Ulmer Stadium Saturday and Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville softball team will wrap up the fall season with the Louisville Fall Tournament this weekend at Ulmer Stadium. Admission is free.
The Cardinals will open the tournament Saturday at 1 p.m. with a game against Lake Land Community College and will face Walters State at 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, Louisville will play host to Campbellsville at 12 p.m. and Bellarmine at 2:30 p.m.

Last weekend:
Last weekend, the Cardinals opened the fall season with a doubleheader sweep of Bellarmine at Ulmer Stadium.
In game one, sophomore Nicole Pufahl went 3 for 5 with five RBIs including a walk-off, three-run home in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Cardinals to an 8-5 win over the Knights. Freshman Megan Hensley picked up the win after giving up four unearned runs on one hit and striking out three in 1.2 innings of relief. Junior Maryssa Becker got the start in the circle and gave up one earned run on three hits and striking out seven in 5.1 innings.
In game two, junior Sarah Lopesilvero went 3 for 3 with two runs and Megan Hensley was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and a run as the Cards completed the sweep with a 6-2 win. Freshman Kaylea Horn allowed two earned runs on seven hits and struck out four in 5.0 innings of relief to get the win. Hensley held the Knights scoreless on two hits and struck out three in 2.0 innings.

The Cardinals finished the 2015 season with a 30-19 overall record after making their 12th consecutive NCAA regional appearance. Louisville returns 13 letterwinners and six starters from last year's squad including seniors Morgan Hart, Hailey Smith, Brittany Sims and All-ACC first team selection junior Maryssa Becker. Louisville also welcomes 10 newcomers to the 2015-16 roster.
