Series Notes
- Louisville leads the overall series 3-1 after Saturday's 34-3 win over the Panthers. Louisville is 2-0 at FIU after also winning 28-21 at FIU Stadium in 2012.
- The Cardinals are 63-44-1 all-time against teams from Conference USA after today's win.
Offensive Notes
- Skylar Lacy made his first start at guard for the Cardinals, while senior Jake Smith moved back to center, where he started all 13 games a year ago. TE Keith Towbridge made his first start.
- Smith made his 36th-straight start on the offensive line, while John Miller made his 38th and Jamon Brown recorded his 30th straight start.
- RB Michael Dyer returned to action after missing the first three games of the season with a quad injury. He had eight carries for 16 yards.
- The Cardinals scored on the opening drive for the second straight game, going 10 plays on 58 yard, scoring a touchdown on a one-yard L.J. Scott run.
- Will Gardner and James Quick hooked up on a 74-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to put the Cardinals ahead 21-0. It was the longest play for the Cardinals this season and the longest of each of their careers.
- WR James Quick recorded a career-high seven receptions for a career-best 174 yards and two scores. The 174 yards receiving is the most since Arnold Jackson totaled 174 versus Cincinnati in 1999. He added 61 yards on seven punt returns for 235 all-purpose yards
- Quarterback Will Gardner has tossed at least two touchdown passes in each of the four games this season. He completed 16-of-28 passes for a career-best 295 yards and two touchdowns. His previous high was 206 yards in the opener versus Miami.
- K John Wallace booted a pair of field goals (40, 33) to remain a perfect 4-for-4 on the year and is 40-of-49 for his career.
Defensive Notes
- S Gerod Holliman made his first start of the season at safety, while S Terell Floyd and LB James Burgess started for the 20th-straight game.
- Holliman picked off a pair of passes for the second-straight week and now has five on the season. He intercepted his fourth pass of the season and returned it 32 yards for his first career interception return for a touchdown and the Cardinals' first defensive touchdown on the year. It was the first interception returned for a touchdown since Terell Floyd returned a pick 17 yards for a score last season versus Connecticut.
- DT Sheldon Rankins totaled a career-best eight tackles and a sack.
- The Cardinals held FIU to 205 yards in total offense, marking the fourth-straight game of holding the opposition to less than 300 yards of total offense.
