LOUISVILLE, Ky.- University of Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino provided a final update to the media before the team leaves tomorrow for Saturday's 3:30 p.m. kickoff versus FIU.
"We had a good week of practice," Petrino said. "Tuesday was a good practice. We came back Wednesday and worked hard. We were looking for effort and hard work. I thought they did that really well. Today's practice is shorter with a lot of special teams. It's a quick situational practice. We had good energy and good work ethic. We didn't do everything right, but we were closer."
Petrino gave an update on senior running back Michael Dyer, who has missed the first three games with a quad injury.
"Michael practiced all three days," said Petrino. "We saw some really good things from him. We need to see how he responds after today's practice. We have a lot of time before the game so we will see how he responds. There is a chance that he plays."
Sophomore quarterback Will Gardner had a good week of practice after throwing a pair of touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss to Virginia last Saturday.
"He has had a really good week as far as his focus and attitude," said Petrino. "I think its the best all year that he transferred his weight and snapped his wrist. He was throwing the ball hard. He was making a conscious effort to do the things he is being coached to do."
The Cardinals will leave at 2 p.m. tomorrow for Miami, Fla., to try and get back on the winning side of things. The game can be seen on FoxSports1 on Saturday.
