LOUISVILLE, Ky.- As the University of Louisville football team begins practice on Tuesday, quarterback Will Gardner is ready to compete for the starting job.
Gardner had a solid spring in head coach Bobby Petrino's return to Louisville. Gardner threw for over 500 yards in the spring game and looked comfortable in the wide-open attack.
Gardner saw limited action last year, throwing for 112 yards and two touchdowns. He tossed a touchdown in his first game versus Ohio, throwing a 30-yard touchdown pass to Kai DeLa Cruz.
