LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville freshman quarterback Reggie Bonnafon is on campus working out in preparation for the 2014 season.
A dual-threat quarterback, Bonnafon comes to Louisville after an outstanding career at Trinity High. After playing just one season as a quarterback for head coach Bob Beatty, Bonnafon was a highly recruited player.
A 6-foot-3 signal caller, Bonnafon was rated a four-star quarterback and the 22nd-best quarterback by Scout.com, Bonnafon was nominated to play in the U.S. Army American Bowl after a successful season at Trinity.
Named an honorable mention on the Associated Press All-State squad, Bonnafon was tabbed one of the top 50 players in the state of Kentucky by the Courier-Journal. The Louisville native played in a system at Trinity that is "very similar" to what head coach Petrino will run at U of L.
As a senior last season, Bonnafon threw for 2,606 yards and 16 touchdowns, completing a solid 63.1 percent of his passes. Bonnafon was careful with the football, tossing only eight interceptions in 306 attempts. From the quarterback position, he ended the year second on the team in rushing with 895 yards and 18 touchdowns, while accounting for 34 total touchdowns. He led the team in scoring with 108 points.
