Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville football program has announced its Summer Camp dates for the 2014 season.
Head coach Bobby Petrino and his staff will conduct four camps this summer, giving athletes the opportunity to learn the game from one of the top staffs in the country.
The Cardinals will conduct a pair of camps for athletes in grades 9-12. The first camp is scheduled for June 7-8, and the second will run from June 14-15. Campers receive 2 days of expert, personal instruction at their position from the Louisville coaching staff. Sessions focus on skill development for all positions on offense and defense.
Petrino, known as one of the best offensive coaches in the country, will hold a Quarterback Academy on June 16-18. Led by Petrino and offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Garrick McGee, the camp will focus on the fundamentals of the quarterback position including footwork, throwing mechanics and game management. Multiple classroom sessions build the quarterback's base knowledge of reading defenses, attacking coverages and managing situational football. The practice sessions build upon the classroom knowledge and allow campers to compete with other attendees for age group awards. The competitions challenge the campers in multiple quarterback accuracy drills in simulated game situations.
The Cardinals will close the camp season with their Junior Cardinal Camp from June 18-20. Children ages 8-14 are encouraged to participate in a football camp for young athletes with beginner's skills. The camp includes three days of personal attention and football fundamental instruction from the Louisville Cardinal coaching staff.
