LOUISVILLE TEAM NOTES
Saturday's game produced the fewest combined points (108) in the Louisville-Kentucky series since Jan. 21, 1922 when the Wildcats won 29-22 (51 total points) in Lexington.
Saturday's announced attendance was 22,812, the third largest ever at the KFC Yum! Center. The largest crowd ever was the 22,815 fans at the Cardinals' 73-57 win over Notre Dame on March 9, 2013.
The loss halted Louisville's home winning streak against non-conference foes at 35 games marking the first defeat for the Cardinals at home against a non-conference opponent since December 2010.
Louisville dropped to 4-6 all-time in regular season games against No. 1 ranked teams falling for just the second time in the its last five contests versus top-ranked opponents.
Louisville fell two games shy of equaling its best unbeaten start in school history with Saturday's loss. The Cardinals have opened 13-0 three times with the most recent coming in 1974-75.
The Cardinals dropped to 31-6 in the month of December over the last four years, including a 19-2 mark the last three seasons.
Despite Saturday's loss, the Cardinals have limited 8 of 12 opponents this season to fewer than 60 points.
Entering the weekend ranked fourth in the nation at 11.0 steals per game, Louisville finished just below that number on Saturday with 10 against the Wildcats. It marked the 10th time in 12 games this season they have finished with 10 or more steals.
Ranking fourth in the nation in offensive rebounds (16.7 per game) entering the weekend, Louisville finished with 18 offensive rebounds on Saturday.
Averaging 7.3 blocked shots per game entering the week (sixth best in the nation), the Cardinals had just two swats on Saturday for their lowest total since finishing with just one in the season-opening win against Minnesota.
Saturday's game marked just the second time this season Louisville has been out-rebounded by an opponent (Marshall finished with a 50-47 edge on the glass on Nov. 21).
The Cardinals were +9 in turnovers on Saturday, four better than their average of +5.0 per game, which ranked 12th nationally entering the weekend.
Louisville was credited with only one assist on Saturday - a season-low for the team and the fewest in any game going back to at least the 1998-99 season. During that span, the previous low was four assists on Dec. 18, 1999 in a 76-46 loss at Kentucky.
The Cardinals finished at a season-low 25.9 percent shooting from the field (15-of-58). The 15 made field goals equals a season-low matching the total against Cleveland State on Nov. 26.
Both Louisville and Kentucky finished with season lows for points in a half during the opening 20 minutes of Saturday's game after the Wildcats took a 22-18 advantage into the break. The Cardinals' previous low was 19 in the second half against Cleveland State (Nov. 26), while Kentucky's was 23 in the first half against Columbia (Dec. 10).
Saturday's game marked the first time this season Louisville has trailed at halftime.
LOUISVILLE PLAYER NOTES
Sophomore Terry Rozier led the Cardinals in scoring for the fourth time this season finishing with a game-high 15 points.
Rozier attempted a career-high 18 shots in Saturday's loss.
Saturday marked the 11th time in 12 games this season Rozier has scored in double-figures.
Rozier equaled a team-high with eight rebounds, his second highest rebounding total of the season behind only the 11 against Cleveland State on Nov. 26.
Senior Chris Jones reached double-figures in the scoring column for the 10th time in 12 games this season finishing with 13 points overall. He has scored at least nine points in all 12 games this season.
Senior Wayne Blackshear reached double-figures in scoring for the ninth time this season finishing with 10 points.
Blackshear attempted a season-high nine free throws and connected on six of those. The nine attempts from the line were one shy of his career-high 10 free throws against Louisiana Lafayette on Dec. 7, 2013.
Junior Montrezl Harrell finished with nine points on Saturday ending his streak of 22 consecutive games scoring in double-figures, which led the ACC.
Playing in just his second collegiate game, freshman Shaqquan Aaron made his first career attempted shot connecting on a three-point basket in the first half of Saturday's game.
