CHARLOTTE- The 20th-ranked University of Louisville football team returned to bowl preparations on Christmas, holding a 75-minute workout Thursday afternoon at Charlotte Latin High School in Charlotte, N.C.
The Cardinals worked out in helmets, jerseys, shorts and shoulder pads. Head coach Bobby Petrino put the team through three periods of individual drills before doing team work to close the rest of the workout.
"It was a good first day out here," senior wide receiver Eli Rogers said following practice. "We had a lot of intensity and focus out here. We have been going pretty strong for the last week in preparation for our match-up with Georgia."
The team held a Christmas lunch at their hotel Thursday afternoon, and the squad had the rest of the night off from any team activities.
On Friday, the Cardinals will have a morning practice at 11 a.m.
"Georgia is a great team," Rogers said. "We have to have a great week of practice to get ready for what we know will be a tough game."
The Cardinals (9-3) face Georgia (9-3) on Tuesday, Dec. 30 in the Belk Bowl at Bank of America Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 p.m., and ESPN will televise the contest.
