Louisville Postgame Notes
Louisville 38, Boston College 19
November 8, 2014
Alumni Stadium - Chestnut Hill, Mass.
SERIES NOTES
- The Cardinals and Boston College met for the seventh time in school history, with Cardinals holding a 4-3 series edge. This is the first meeting since a 52-28 Louisville win at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in 1998.
- Head coach Bobby Petrino improved to 11-1 during his tenure at Louisville following a loss. He hasn't lost back-to-back games since losing to TCU and Memphis in 2003.
- Petrino improves to 48-12 during his five years at Louisville and has won seven or more games in all five of his seasons at Louisville.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
- Guard Jake Smith made his 48th career start on the offensive line, while guard John Miller started for the 44th time and tackle Jamon Brown made his 36th start. Miller and Brown started their team-high 29th-straight game.
- Running back Brandon Radcliff scored from four yards for his first touchdown since the Wake Forest game on Sept. 27. He leads the team with eight rushing scores after his third multiple touchdown game on the year.
- Wide receiver DeVante Parker recorded his fifth-straight 100-yard game with his 8-catch, 144-yard performance versus Boston College. After missing the first seven games of the season, Parker has responded with a total of 26 catches for 490 yards in three games. Parker caught his first touchdown of the season and the 29th of his career.
- Quarterback Reggie Bonnafon threw for two touchdowns for the first time in his career, tossing a 29-yard pass to DeVante Parker and added a 12-yarder to Eli Rogers. Bonnafon was the Cardinals' leading rusher for the game with a career-best 76 yards on 13 carries.
- Since DeVante Parker has returned to the lineup, the Cardinals are averaging 33 points per game. They scored 30 versus NC State, 31 against Florida State and 38 tonight versus Boston College.
- The Cardinals recorded 423 yards of total offense, their third highest of the season.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
- Cornerback Terell Floyd made his 36th career start and 26th straight, while linebacker James Burgess also made his 26th consecutive start. Johnny Richardson and Nick Dawson registered their first career starts on defense.
- With three interceptions tonight, safety Gerod Holliman now has 13 on the season and broke Anthony's Floyd's old mark of 10 set in 2000. Holliman has recorded an interception in eight of 10 games this season and entered the game leading the nation in picks. He is one short of the NCAA FBS single-season record of 14 interceptions. He set a school record for number of games with at least two interceptions with his fourth of the season tonight.
- The Cardinals extended their streak of forcing a turnover to 13 straight games.
- B.J. Dubose recorded eight tackles to lead the Cardinals and Dominique Brown had seven stops on special teams.
- Boston College entered the game averaging 274.9 yards on the ground and were held to 166 yards tonight.
- Junior Sheldon Rankins recorded his second interception on the season late in the fourth quarter on a pass near the end zone.
SPECIAL TEAMS
- The Cardinals' Stacy Thomas blocked a punt right before the half to set up a touchdown to take a 17-13 lead. It was the first blocked punt since Charles Gaines blocked one against Connecticut on Nov. 8, 2013.
