LOUISVILLE TEAM NOTES
Wednesday's victory was the 700th collegiate win for Louisville head coach Rick Pitino during his Hall of Fame career (overall record of 700-245 in 30 seasons).
Wednesday's game was the Cardinals' fourth and final in the Global Sports Showcase, a five-team round robin event played at various campus sites.
Louisville finished 4-0 in the Global Sports Showcase to clinch its 27th regular season tournament title.
Wednesday's contest was the fourth of six straight for Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center, where they improved to 70-9 all-time.
With Wednesday's victory, Louisville improved to 5-0 to open its season for the fifth straight year.
Louisville extended its home winning streak against non-conference foes to 30 games dating back to December 2011.
The Cardinals improved to 26-2 record in the month of November during the last five seasons.
In its last two games, Louisville has allowed a total of 59 points (33 vs. Cleveland State and 26 vs. Savannah State), the lowest combined total in back-to-back games for the program since 1937 when Western Kentucky (33-25 win on Jan. 16) and Eastern Kentucky (28-26 loss on Jan. 13) combined for 53 points.
Wednesday's game marked the lowest point total for Louisville since a 67-44 loss at Temple on Feb. 2, 1997. It was the lowest point total at home since a 50-45 loss to Virginia on Feb. 11, 1984 and the fewest points in a win since a 42-31 victory against Cincinnati on March 7, 1981.
The Cardinals' 12-point margin on Wednesday was their lowest margin of victory this season (previous was 81-68, +13 against Minnesota on Nov. 14).
Louisville's 26-22 advantage after 20 minutes on Wednesday marked the narrowest halftime margin this season. Leading at the half in each of their first five games, the Cardinals' smallest halftime margin prior to Wednesday was 13 (43-30) against Minnesota in the season-opener on Nov. 14.
The Cardinals finished with a 46-37 advantage on the glass and improved to 4-0 this season when winning the rebounding battle.
Louisville had a season-high 11 blocked shots in Wednesday's win, the most since finishing with 14 against Gardner-Webb on Dec. 18, 2010 (78-49 win).
The Cardinals finished with a season-low six assists on Wednesday, their lowest total since finishing with six against USF on Jan. 12, 2013 (64-38 win).
Louisville's three steals on Wednesday was the fewest since finishing with three against Cincinnati on Jan. 30, 2014 (69-66 loss).
The Cardinals improved to 277-42 when holding an opponent to less than 70 points during the last 14 seasons.
Only five Louisville players scored points on Wednesday, the fewest since just five players found the scoring column in an 84-71 win at SMU on March 5, 2014.
Wednesday's game marked the first time a Louisville team finished with zero bench points since Dec. 5, 2000 in a 70-63 home loss to Georgetown.
LOUISVILLE PLAYER NOTES
Junior Montrezl Harrell led the Cardinals in scoring with 15 points and pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds to earn his 13th career double-double, including his first this season.
The 13 rebounds for Harrell are his highest total since pulling down 13 against Manhattan on March 20, 2014.
Harrell has led the Cardinals in scoring in four of five games this season while finishing with 12 or more points in all five.
Harrell also finished with a season-high three blocked shots, the most since finishing with four in the NCAA win over Manhattan in March 2014.
Senior Chris Jones scored 11 points on Wednesday marking his fourth double-figure scoring outing of the season.
Sophomore Terry Rozier pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds on Wednesday, one better than his previous high total of 10 against Western Kentucky on Dec. 14, 2013.
Rozier added nine points ending a streak of four straight games of double-figure scoring to open the season.
Freshman Chinanu Onuaku blocked a career-best seven shots on Wednesday, the most for a Louisville player since Gorgui Dieng had seven blocks against Michigan State on March 22, 2012.
Onuaku also pulled down nine rebounds marking the fourth straight game he has finished with nine or more rebounds.
