Volleyball Set to Host Pitt
November 25, 2014 | Women's Volleyball
Louisville (15-14, 7-10) will host Pittsburgh for its regular season finale on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Cardinal Arena. The Panthers (23-6, 11-5 ACC) are coming off a pair of ACC wins this past weekend and will face Louisville Wednesday, Nov. 26 with match-up being broadcast live on ESPN3 at 4 p.m.
Pitt is currently on the bubble for the 2014 NCAA Division I Volleyball Tournament, as they sit at No. 51 in the latest NCAA RPI. However, they have a match with Notre Dame and hope that two wins this week could better their chances at a dance bid to the NCAA.
The Cards fell to Pitt 3-1 at the end of October, and after a scrappy match with then-No. 7 North Carolina last Sunday, UofL is looking to cement another winning season, a streak that dates back to 1987.
However, Louisville enters its second match-up against the Panthers on a three-match losing streak, which includes falling victim to Wake Forest, Duke and previously No. 7 North Carolina. Sophomore outside hitter Maya McClendon notched double-digit kills (15) in the loss to UNC and is Louisville's leader in kills (341) and kills per set (3.13). Middle blocker Tess Clark leads the team with 126 blocks and is hitting .412. Janelle Jenkins has 337 kills and 84 blocks, adding 219 digs. Setter Katie George has 1,124 assists and has landed a team-high 35 aces.
