LOUISVILLE TEAM NOTES
Louisville improved to 14-0 in home-openers under the guidance of head coach Rick Pitino and has won 20 of its last 22 home-openers overall.
Monday's contest was the Cardinals' first in the Global Sports Showcase, a five-team round robin event played at various campus sites.
The home-opener was also the first of six straight games for Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center, where they improved to 67-9 all-time.
The 49-point difference on Monday was Louisville's largest margin of victory since the 61-point win over Rutgers (92-31) on March 13, 2014 in the Cardinals' American Conference Championship opener.
It was also the Cardinals' largest margin of victory in a win at home since defeating Missouri-Kansas City 99-47 (+52) on Dec. 8, 2012.
Monday's margin was Louisville's largest advantage in a home-opener since defeating South Alabama 92-38 (+54) on Nov. 18, 2001 at Freedom Hall in the first game for Pitino with the Cardinals.
The 60 rebounds on Monday for the Cardinals are their highest total on the glass since pulling down 60 against East Carolina on Jan. 19, 2005 (92-41 win at Freedom Hall).
Louisville's 30 offensive rebounds are the most since finishing with 30 offensive boards against Morgan State on Dec. 30, 1998 (95-47 win at Freedom Hall).
The Cardinals' +34 advantage on the glass on Monday is the program's largest rebounding margin in a single game in the last 16 seasons. The previous high for rebounding advantage since the 1998-99 season was +30 (56-26) against Morgan State on Dec. 30, 1998.
During a span of a little more than 20 minutes of game action covering the final 10:07 of the first half and the first 10:34 of the second half, the Cardinals outscored the Gamecocks 54-9 overall. That stretch included three runs of 13-0, 18-0 and 21-0 for Louisville.
Louisville improved to 150-9 in the last 14 seasons under the guidance of Pitino when scoring 80 or more points.
The Cardinals improved to 274-42 when holding an opponent to less than 70 points during the last 14 seasons.
