
Volleyball Hits the Road for First ACC Swing

The Louisville Cardinals volleyball team (9-5, 1-1 ACC) will make their first Atlantic Coast Conference road trip as they head to Virginia this weekend to take on Virginia Tech and Virginia.
First up for the Cardinals will be the Virginia Tech Hokies on Friday night at 7 p.m. Virginia Tech (7-7, 0-1 ACC) comes into the matchup after falling in their ACC opener to Wake Forest in five sets last weekend. The Hokies are led by sophomore Lindsey Owens who added to her total of 170 kills on the season with 16 against Wake Forest. Sophomore Amanda McKinzie added a double-double in the loss against Wake.
Louisville will take on Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. (ET). The Cavaliers have an overall record of 9-6 and is 2-0 in conference play. The Cavaliers' last two matches were against ACC opponents, Wake Forest and Clemson, and Virginia came out with a 3-1 win in both matches.
The Cavaliers captured the win against Wake Forest with a .383 hitting percentage, their best of the season, and 14 total team blocks. Senior Tori Janowski of Virginia earned her 1,000 career kill in her first ACC game against Clemson, and ended the Wake Forest match with 19 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
Last weekend, the Cardinals went 1-1 on a home stand as they defeated Georgia Tech in five sets and lost to Boston College. Janelle Jenkins, Maya McClendon and Laura Blab notched double figures in kills both games. Tess Clark added 18 kills in Sunday's win over Georgia Tech.
