
Smith Named All-America by Blue Ribbon Yearbook

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville senior guard Russ Smith has been named as a first-team All-America selection by the 2013-14 Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook.
Smith joins Creighton's Doug McDermott, Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart, Michigan State's Adreian Payne and Kansas' Andrew Wiggins on the publication's All-America first team. All five grace the cover of this year's Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook, which is available for purchase online at www.blueribbonyearbookonline.com. Edited by Chris Dortch, the publication is noted as the most comprehensive college basketball publication on the market.
Smith was the leading scorer on the Cards' national title team, averaging 18.7 points (35th in the nation) and 2.1 steals (36th nationally). An All-BIG EAST first team selection, Smith was honored as a third team All-American by the Associated Press, The Sporting News and NABC. He was selected as the national Player of the Year by Ken Pomeroy. The native of Brooklyn, N.Y. was the recipient of the 2012-13 BIG EAST Conference Scholar-Athlete Sports Excellence Award for men's basketball.
Smith earned the Most Outstanding Player award of the 2013 NCAA Midwest Regional after matching a career high with 31 points against Oregon and scoring 23 points against Duke. His 1,235 career points ranks 36th all-time at UofL. He has a steal in 77 of 96 career games.
