LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's basketball team is inching closer to opening the 2013-14 campaign, playing its second and final exhibition of the season on Wednesday against Pikeville. Tip is set for 7:07 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center.
The Nov. 5 matchup will be televised on WHAS-TV in Louisville, with Drew Deener (play-by-play) and Bob Valvano (analyst) calling the action. At 8 p.m., coverage shifts to WHAS 11.2 (Time Warner 432; Comcast 207). Fans can watch the game live in its entirety on ESPN3, however, it will be blacked out in the WHAS viewing area. The radio broadcast, aired on WKRD 790 AM - joined in progress on WHAS 840 AM - features Paul Rogers (play-by-play) and Doug Ormay (analyst).

The Cardinals defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 115-67 on Oct. 29 in their first exhibition of the year. The game featured 64 fouls - 41 on Kentucky Wesleyan - and five Louisville players in double digits in points. The Cardinals combined for eight blocks and 12 steals, while shooting a 57.6 percent clip (38-of-66) from the field.
Montrezl Harrell paced the Cardinals with 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting and a team-best three steals. Terry Rozier added 18 points off the bench in just 26 minutes of action, and Russ Smith added 17 in the victory.
Pikeville is led by eighth-year coach Kelly Wells, who has guided the team to a 105-56 record. The Bears, ranked seventh in the preseason NAIA Division I coaches' poll, are coming off a 26-7 season, including a 15-5 mark in conference play. The team is returning four players from a squad that reached the first round of the NAIA national tournament.
Pikeville, which features 12 newcomers, has played four games entering Wednesday's matchup. The Bears defeated Athletes in Action 91-77 in an exhibition on Oct. 24 and won their season opener with a 98-68 decision over Tennessee Wesleyan. The team then crushed faces Ohio State (Mansfield), 112-35, on Nov. 1 and then posted a 90-65 win over UVa.-Wise on Nov. 2.
Senior guard Elisha Justice played two seasons at UofL before transferring to the Bears. He played in 25 games during Louisville's 2012 Final Four season and finished his career with the Cardinals playing in 54 games.
The two programs have met twice - both in exhibition contests - and the Cardinals hold a 2-0 series advantage. Last year, Louisville posted a 93-57 victory on Nov. 1, 2012, with Harrell posting a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds.
