Louisville, Ky. - Every week this summer UofLSports.com will catch up with a member of the women's basketball team to see how they are preparing for the upcoming season. This week senior guard Shelby Harper fills us in on what she has been doing since the season ended.
You are about to start your senior year, what has been the best thing about playing for Louisville? The fans because they are the best in the country. They give us great support every game.
At what age did you start playing basketball, and who taught you to play? My father started to teach me how to play at about age four. What have you been doing this summer? This summer I did my internship with a physical therapist in Bowling Green. I am taking a summer class right now and doing our team workouts and getting in the gym to get ready for next year.
What do you hope to improve for next season? I hope to improve on my ball handling for next season.
What has the team been doing since the end of the season to get ready for the 2012-13 season? We have been working hard doing our team workouts with some conditioning and weights. We also have been getting in the gym to work on our individual skills as well as playing some pick up ball.
What is your best basketball memory? My best basketball memory is when we played Kentucky in the KFC YUM! Center and beat them by like 30 points. It is my favorite because we could feel the energy from the crowd.
What do you hope to accomplish on the court before you leave Louisville? I would like to be a leading player in assist and steals in a game.
Who is the biggest influence in your life and why? It would be my father because he has pushed me to strive to be the best I can be in life and in basketball.
What is your dream job after you leave Louisville? I would like to work in an administration position at a hospital and to help people.
What will be the team's strength this upcoming season? I think our strength will be pushing the ball in transition.
