Louisville, Ky. - - With spring practice closed for the first time this spring, the University of Louisville football team finished practice No. 4 Monday afternoon at the football complex.
Head coach Charlie Strong put his team through a situational two-hour practice under sunny skies. Strong was disappointed in the intensity of the team this afternoon after having a spirited practice on Saturday morning. He didn't think the defense came out with much emotion and it showed by the dominance of the offense. The defense couldn't stop the offense all afternoon. Tight end Gerald Christian made a nice touchdown catch in the back of the end zone on a perfect throw by Will Stein.
Red-shirt freshman Corvin Lamb, junior Dominique Brown and Jeremy Wright ran hard during the scrimmage portion on practice. Lamb had one of the longest runs of the spring when he broke free through the line of scrimmage and into the end zone.
The offense continues to run a number of different weapons at the wide receiver position. Jarrett Davis and Damian Copeland, who is healthy for the first time in two years, continue to stretch the field and is a threat in the middle of the field. Michaelee Harris is out for spring after tearing his ACL last December. Eli Rogers was non-contact today after suffering a minor injury on Saturday.
The Cardinals will take off Tuesday before hitting the fields for practice No. 5 on Wednesday. Louisville be half-way through spring practice on Saturday.
The Cardinals will conduct the Annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 14 at 1 p.m. at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
