
Women's Basketball Hosts No. 3 Connecticut on Tuesday Night

Louisville women's basketball (17-6, 6-4) will host third ranked Connecticut on Tuesday, Feb. 7 for a BIG EAST Conference showdown at the KFC Yum! Center at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday's contest will air on CBS Sports Network with Brent Stover and Debbie Antonelli calling the action.
The Cardinals are coming off a 66-50 defeat at West Virginia on Saturday afternoon. Three players are averaging double figures with sophomore Shoni Schimmel leading the team with 13.7 points per game while leading the team with 4.3 assists per game. Senior Becky Burke is second with 11.1 points per game while freshman Bria Smith is averaging 10.3 points per game. Shawnta' Dyer leads the team on the boards with 4.6 rebounds per game.
Connecticut is coming off a 60-34 win over Rutgers on Saturday. Senior guard Tiffany Hayes leads Connecticut in scoring with 16.0 points per game. Hayes leads the team 88 foul shots, connecting on 77.9 percent from long range. Sophomore guard Bria Hartley ranks second on the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game while leading the team in assists with 102 on the year. Freshman Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis ranks third on the team in scoring with 14.0 points per game, largely due to her 58 three-pointers. Sophomore center Stephanie Dolson rounds out the top scorers with 10.3 points per game. Dolson also leads the team on the boards averaging 6.0 per game.
Connecticut leads the series 10-1 over the Cardinals. The Cardinals have never defeated the Huskies at home.
Tuesday's contest will air on the U of L Radio Network (790 AM) with Matt Andrews and Adrienne Johnson announcing. Prior to tip off former Louisville All-American Sara Nord will become the first women's player to have her name added to the list of honored jersey names displayed in the KFC Yum! Center. Louisville will also be celebrating the 40 year anniversary of Title IX with a special halftime presentation. Dr. Bernice R. Sandler, whose persistent efforts brought Title IX into existence, will speak to the Louisville's student-athletes prior to tip off about Title IX and will be honored during the presentation at the half.
