TEAM
- Louisville holds a 7-6 advantage in the all-time series with Connecticut, which dates back to 2000. The Cardinals hold a 4-2 advantage in home games against the Huskies. The 21-point margin is the largest ever in the series.
- Louisville head coach Rick Pitino improved to 11-11 in his career against UConn, including a 7-5 mark with the Cardinals.
- The Cardinals have 31 wins in their last 37 games during the month of February dating back to the 2006-07 season. Since 2005, Louisville is 39-12 in February.
- The 21-point difference is the largest margin of victory for Louisville in a BIG EAST game since an 87-60 win over Providence on March 2, 2011.
- Louisville held Connecticut to 35.1-percent (20-for-57) shooting from the field, nearly two percentage points lower than the Cardinals' season average of 37.0, which ranked fourth nationally entering the week.
- Louisville's 11 three-point baskets are a season-high and the most since making 13 in an 81-56 win against Marquette on March 10, 2011 in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championship.
- The Cardinals' 51 points during the final 20 minutes on Monday are the second most scored in a half this season behind only the 53 points in the second half against Memphis on Dec. 17.
- After playing the entire first half with a steal, Louisville had 10 in the second half to finish just above its season average of 9.5 per game, which ranked sixth in the nation entering the week.
- The 10 steals are also the most in any half this season for the Cardinals and the most in any half since they had 10 in the second half against St. John's on Jan. 19, 2011.
- The Cardinals finished with a 45-36 advantage on the glass and improved to 15-2 on the season when outrebounding their opponent.
- U of L improved to 205-35 when holding its opponent below 70 points over the past 11 seasons under coach Rick Pitino, including 17-2 this season.
- Louisville moved to 115-7 in the last 11 seasons under Pitino when scoring 80 or more points (6-0 this season, 12-0 in 2010-11).
- The Cardinals attempted a season-low eight free throws and made only five, just one shy of the season low in that category.
PLAYER
- Senior guard Chris Smith reached double-figures in scoring for the sixth time in the last eight games finishing with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 4-for-6 from beyond the three-point line.
- It marked the fourth time this season Chris Smith has led the Cardinals in scoring. He also added six rebounds and two assists in another all-around strong performance.
- Despite playing with an ankle injury, sophomore center Gorgui Dieng scored 15 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field to go with six rebounds. The point-total is his highest since he scored 18 against IUPUI on Dec. 7.
- In his last seven games, Dieng is averaging 11.5 points and 10.1 rebounds while shooting 67.3 percent (31-for-46) from the field.
- Freshman forward Chane Behanan pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds marking his third straight double-digit effort on the glass. In his last six games, freshman forward Chane Behanan is averaging 11.5 points and 9.8 rebounds.
- Senior guard Kyle Kuric added 10 points and nine rebounds, just one shy of his career-high from earlier this season. It marked the 18th time in his 22 games that Kuric has reached double-figures in scoring.
- Dieng, who entered the week ranked fifth in the nation at 3.5 blocks per game, finished without a block for just the second time this season. He remains in sixth on Louisville's single-season blocked shots list with 81. He is just one blocked shot behind Pervis Ellison (19986-87) and Charles Jones (1982-83), who are tied for fifth on the all-time list with 82.
- Junior guard Peyton Siva matched a season-high with nine assists, which he has now achieved four times in 2011-12. He also added seven points and connected for his first three-point basket since Jan. 3 at St. John's.
- Junior forward Jared Swopshire finished with nine points, his third highest total of the season and the most since his 10-point effort against Long Beach State on Nov. 28. Finishing 4-for-7 from field, he also made just his third three-point basket of the season.
- Former Louisville All-America guard Lancaster Gordon had his name added to the list of honored jersey names displayed in the KFC Yum! Center during a ceremony at halftime of Monday's game against Connecticut. Gordon (1980-84) is among the top U of L career scorers (1,614, 14th at U of L) and his 192 career steals rank seventh all-time.
