
Women's Basketball Hosts Tennessee State to Wrap Up 2012

Louisville, Ky. - The No. 12 Louisville women's basketball team will wrap up non conference action on Monday, Dec. 31 as they host Tennessee in the KFC Yum! Center at 6:00 p.m. The game is the final tune up before the Cardinals begin BIG EAST action on Jan. 5 at DePaul.
The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 11-2. The Cardinals are coming off a 106-32 win over Wagner on Dec. 21. The Cardinals finished the game with eight players in double figures. Freshman Megan Deines led the way with a career-high 19 points. Overall, Hammond leads the team in scoring and rebounding with 12.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Shoni Schimmel is second on the team in scoring with 11.3 points while leading the team in assists with 3.8 per contest.
Tennessee State (4-7, 0-1 OVC) dropped its Ohio Valley Conference opener to Eastern Illinois 76-67 in women's basketball action Saturday night at the Gentry Center. Kesi Hess had a career-high 19 points on five-of-seven shooting from the three-point line. TSU has three players averaging just over nine points a game. Simone Hopes leads the team with 9.8 points and team-best 7.0 points per game. Jasmin Shuler is second in scoring with 9.6 points per game while Kesi Hess rounds out the top three scorers with 9.3 points per game.
