
Swimming and Diving Team Ranked in Top 20

The University of Louisville men's swimming and diving team has been ranked No. 16 and the women's swimming and diving team has been ranked No.19 in the first CSCAA Division I Team Rankings of the season.
The No. 16 Cardinal men make a strong showing for the BIG EAST as the only conference member in the Oct. 31 CSCAA Poll. Florida was ranked a unanimous No. 1 and was joined by fellow SEC member No. 6 Auburn in the Top 10. Six other SEC programs were ranked in the Top 25, which included No. 9 Georgia, No. 12 South Carolina, No. 20 Alabama, No. 21 Texas A&M, No. 22 LSU, and No. 24 Tennessee. Seven schools from the BIG Ten Conference were ranked in the Top 25, which included No. 2 Michigan, No. 8 Indiana, No. 13 Minnesota, No. 17 Penn State, No. 18 Purdue, No. 19 Iowa, and No. 25 Wisconsin. The Pac 10 saw four schools ranked in the top 25 in No. 3 Stanford, No. 4 Southern California, No. 7 California, and No. 11 Arizona. Out of the ACC, No. 9 North Carolina, No. 14 NC State, and No. 15 Florida State were all chosen in the first poll of the season. The only school representing the Big 12 in the poll was No. 5 Texas. No. 23 Missouri State is the only top ranked team outside of the power conferences.
Leading the No. 16 Louisville men thus far in rankings this season is Joao De Lucca. De Lucca is ranked third in the 100-free with a time of 44.04 and ninth in the 200-free with a time of 1:38.76. Freshman Bryan Draganosky is ranked eighth with a 9:21.14 in the 1000-free.
The No. 19 Louisville women join No. 18 Notre Dame as the only programs representing the BIG EAST in the CSCAA Team Rankings. Southern California was ranked No. 1 and is joined by three other Pac 10 schools in the Top 10, which includes No. 3 California, No. 5 Stanford, and No. 9 Arizona. The Pac 10 also saw No. 16 UCLA and No. 16 Arizona State enter the CSCAA poll. The SEC also had four programs ranked in the Top 10, including No. 2 Georgia, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 5 Auburn, and No. 8 Tennessee. Additional teams from the SEC in the Top 25 include No. 11 Florida, No. 17 LSU, and No. 21 Arkansas. The schools representing the Big 10 in the Top 25 include No. 12 Minnesota, No. 13 Indiana, No. 20 Michigan, No. 23 Wisconsin, and No. 24 Purdue. The ACC added three schools to the CSCAA Top 25 in No. 10 North Carolina, No. 14 Virginia, and No. 22 Florida State. The only program representing the Big 12 in the Top 25 is No. 7 Texas. No. 15 San Diego State of the Mountain West Conference is the only program in the Top 25 that is not part of the power conferences.
Leading the No. 19 Louisville women in ranked times this season are Kelsi Worrell, Abby Chin, and Tanja Kylliainen. Freshman Kelsi Worrell has a trio of ranked times in the 100-fly (7th/54.21), 100-free (14th/50.45), and 50-free (16th/23.18). Louisville also has a bevy of strong relay times, with three being ranked ninth in the country (200-free (1:34.11), 400-free (3:23.51), and 800-free (7:33.68)).
