The Cardinals and Bearcats met for the 52nd time in series history. Cincinnati had won the last four meetings in the series and the last two at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. The Cardinals' victory over the Bearcats is the first since 2007.
With the win:
- The Cardinals are 8-0 for the first time since the 2006 season, when Louisville opened the year at 8-0 before falling to Rutgers. The Cardinals went on to finish 12-1, which included a 24-13 win over Wake Forest in the Orange Bowl.
- The Cardinals have been victorious in five-straight home games, the longest home-winning streak under head coach Charlie Strong. The previous longest home winning streak came in 2006, when Louisville went 6-0 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
- The Cardinals moved to 3-0 in BIG EAST play for the second time in school history and first since 2006, when the Cardinals opened league play at 3-0 before falling to Rutgers.
- The Cardinals secured their first overtime victory since Nov. 14, 2002, when Louisville defeated Southern Miss, 20-17, in two overtime periods. Nate Smith hit a 27-yard field goal to give the Cardinals the victory. Louisville is now 4-4 in overtime games.
Louisville's game captains were Andrell Smith and Adrian Bushell.
Cincinnati won the toss and elected to defer. Louisville received the kickoff to start the game.
Tonight's attendance is 53,271, the fifth-highest attendance in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium history.
When scoring more than 20 points in a game under the direction of Charlie Strong, the Cardinals' record is 21-4.
Terell Floyd registered his first career interception in the overtime period, picking off a 24-yard pass from Munchie Legaux in the end zone.
Jalen Harrington and B.J. Butler, who were moved to tight end on Tuesday, made their first offensive starts at tight end.
Hakeem Smith made the 33rd-straight start of his career. Also with a notable number of consecutive starts: Teddy Bridgewater (18), Mario Benavides (18), Alex Kupper (21) and Jake Smith (21).
Andrell Smith had a career-best 50 yard reception in the first quarter to set up the Cardinals' first touchdown. Smith finished the game with two receptions for 63 yards.
Jeremy Wright punched in a touchdown from one yard out, the 13th rushing score of his career. He tallied a team-high 74 yards on 18 rushes.
Senorise Perry trotted in from eight yards out in the second quarter for his 12th career touchdown. It's his eighth touchdown in the last four games. He finished the game with 36 yards on 13 rushes.
Louisville's offense continues to make quick work on the field, scoring on 10 plays or less 27 times this season. Of those 27 times, 24 of those scores have been touchdowns.
Calvin Pryor registered his fourth career interception midway through the first quarter. He finished the game with seven tackles, three of which were solo stops.
With that pass breakup, Adrian Bushell now has two games this year with at least two pass breakups. He totaled six solo stops in the win.
Preston Brown recorded the first interception of his career just minutes into the second quarter. He finished the game with 13 tackles, his second double-digit tackle game this season.
It is the first time the Cardinals have recorded at least two interceptions in a game since last year's win over Rutgers, when Louisville registered three picks.
Damian Copeland's 51-yard reception was a career long. He led the receiving corps with five receptions and had 96 yards.
DeVante Parker scored on 30-yard and 64-yard touchdowns. It was the second game of his career with at two touchdown receptions. He finished the game with four catches for 120 yards, the second 100+ yard receiving game of the season.
The Cardinals now have 21 rushing touchdowns this season. The last time Louisville tallied at least 21 scores on the ground was in 2007, when Louisville registered 22 rushing touchdowns.

Teddy Bridgewater continues to highlight Louisville's offense.
- Bridgewater surpassed 400 yards passing for the first time in his career.
- Bridgewater has thrown a touchdown pass in 10-straight games.
- Bridgewater threw two touchdown passes, the fifth game this season he has thrown multiple touchdown passes in a game.
- Bridgewater was 15-for-19 for 262 yards and two touchdown passes in the second half.
- Bridgewater finished the game by connecting with a total of nine receivers.
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has completed passes to seven different receivers in eight-straight games. It is the first time a quarterback has accomplished the feat since box scores show individual receivers in 1990.
University of Louisville's football team unveiled a new-look helmet in the White Out against Cincinnati. The all-white helmet had featured a red Cardinal bird with a red stroke around the Louisville bird head.
