TEAM NOTES
- Game Captains: Wide receiver Andrell Smith and tight end Nate Nord.
- Pittsburgh won the toss and elected to receive.
- Louisville snapped Pitt's four-game win streak in the series. The Cardinals won at Heinz Field for the first time since the 2006 season.
- Louisville has a 6-5record in the month of October under head coach Charlie Strong.
- Louisville is 11-15 on the road during its history as BIG EAST members.
- The Cardinals are 2-6 in BIG EAST openers. The Cardinals haven't won a BIG EAST opener since a 23-17 win over Cincinnati during the 2006 season.
- The Cardinals have a 6-0 start for first time since Louisville started 8-0 during the 2006 campaign.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
- The Cardinals opened the game by scoring when running back Senorise Perry scored from six-yards out in the first quarter. It marked the fifth time in six games that the Cardinals scored on their first possession of the game. The only time the Cardinals failed to score was in the 35-7 win over Missouri State.
- Sophomore quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was 17-of-26 for 304 yards and one touchdown. The 304 yards were the second highest of his career. He improved to 11-5 as the Cardinals' starting quarterback. It was also his second game with over 300 yards passing.
- Bridgewater connected with DeVante Parker on a 75-yard touchdown reception on the first play of the second half. The completion and reception were both career longs.
- Bridgewater threw a touchdown pass in his fifth consecutive game with his third quarter touchdown toss to Parker.
- Offensive guard John Miller missed the game with a leg injury. Junior Kamran Joyer replaced him in the starting lineup. Joyer made his second career start at offensive guard.
- Offensive tackle Alex Kupper started his 19th straight game (20th overall), while guard Jake Smith made his 18th consecutive start.
- The Cardinals scored 10 points in a matter of 13 seconds when John Wallace booted a 45-yard field goal with two seconds remaining in the half and Bridgewater and Parker hooked up on a 75-yard touchdown reception on the first play of the second half.
- Running back Senorise Perry rushed for a career-high four touchdowns to give him a team-leading nine on the squad. He owns six rushing scores in his last two games.
- Perry became the first running back to rush for four touchdowns in a game since Michael Bush did in a triple overtime game against West Virginia on Oct. 15, 2005.
- Sophomore wide receiver DeVante Parker caught four passes for a career-best 153 yards -- his first 100-yard receiving game of his career.
- Parker became the first Cardinal to have over 150 yards receiving since Patrick Carter had 154 against Utah in 2007.
- The Cardinals scored 45 points in the win over Pitt, marking the fourth time this season that Louisville has scored 30 or more points in a game this season.
DEFENSIVE NOTES
- Senior linebacker Daniel Brown his missed his second-straight game due to a knee injury he suffered against FIU.
- Freshman linebacker Keith Brown made his first career start versus Pittsburgh.
- Safety Hakeem Smith made his team-high 31st consecutive start at safety.
- Junior defensive tackle Brandon Dunn recorded a career-high six tackles and one sack.
- Coming into the game the Cardinals had recorded just sacks in the first five games, they registered a season-high five sacks in the game versus Pittsburgh on Saturday.
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
- Placekicker John Wallace connected on a career-long 45-yard field goal with three seconds remaining in the first half. He is a perfect 5-for-5 on the season.
- The Cardinals had a punt blocked for the second time this season with the other one coming against North Carolina.
- Junior linebacker Champ Lee blocked his first career punt in the third quarter.
