
Bria Smith Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

Louisville, Ky. - Freshman guard Bria Smith was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after helping the Cardinals to a 1-1 record in league play last week. It is the first weekly honor for Smith who is averaging 11.5 points and three steals per game for the Cardinals.
Smith led the Cardinals in scoring this week, averaging 16.5 points per game. Against Marquette, she had 16 points and five rebounds, while grabbing a team-high three steals. She finished the game shooting 40 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line. Against St. John's, Smith finished with 17 points and three steals. She shot 66.7 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the free throw line. Smith also finished the week averaging 3.5 rebounds and three steals per game. She shot 50 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line.
Louisville will resume league play on Wednesday, Jan. 11 as they host USF at the KFC Yum! Center at 7:00 p.m.
