
Softball Sweeps Murray State 2-0 and 6-2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville softball team swept visiting Murray State 2-0 and 6-2 Saturday afternoon at Ulmer Stadium. The Cardinals will play host to Morehead State in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Sunday.
In game one, Whitney Arion's two-run triple in the second was all the offense the Cards needed in a 2-0 win over Murray State.
Sophomore Maggie Ruckenbrod and junior Katelyn Mann each single to set up Arion's two-out, triple. Starting pitcher senior Tori Collins gave up two hits and struck out four while sophomore Caralisa Connell also limited the Racers to two hits and struck out eight.
The Racers pulled within two in the top of the third when Mandi Kellerman led off the frame with a single and Sarah Anderson was hit by a pitch. Both runners scored on Ellyn Troup's single.
In game two, the Cards used three walks, two hits and a bases-loaded error to score four runs in the second. Junior Alicja Wolny walked and sophomore Hannah Kiyohara reached on a bunt single. Senior Tesha Paysen singled to load the bases. Junior Jennifer Esteban reached on an error which sent Wolny and Kiyohara home. Paysen scored on a bases-loaded walk and sophomore Jordan Trimble's base hit plated Esteban to make the score 4-0.
Trista Cox's two-run double in the bottom of the seventh plated Katelyn Mann and Chrisanna Roberts for the 6-2 final.
