
Cardinals Conduct Final Open Practice on Saturday Afternoon

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With more than 1,100 fans watching along the sidelines, the University of Louisville football team hosted its final public practice of the 2011 preseason camp on Saturday afternoon at the grass practice fields outside of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
Here are some notes from Saturday's practice:
- The Cardinals practiced in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts for the first time in the preseason camp working two hours and 24 periods.
- Louisville worked on tackling for the first time in the preseason on Saturday with two periods of 1-on-1 open field work.
- With questions surrounding the Cardinals' cornerbacks after the loss of starters Johnny Patrick and Bobby Burns from last year's squad, senior Anthony Conner and redshirt freshman Jordon Paschal worked with the first team defense on Saturday.
- Redshirt freshman wide receiver Michaelee Harris sat out of Saturday's practice with a thumb injury.
- Former Cardinals Earl Heyman and Rodney Gnat were among those in attendance watching Saturday's practice.
- Saturday's practice started at 11:30 a.m., ET and featured overcast skies, a light breeze and temperatures in the mid 80's throughout the two-hour session.
- The Cardinals will have a day off from preseason drills on Sunday before returning to the practice fields on Monday. All remaining practices will be closed to the public.
