Louisville, Ky. - Sophomore guard Charmaine Tay will transfer following the fall semester Louisville head coach Jeff Walz announced on Friday afternoon. Tay did not see action for the Cardinals in the fall after being ruled academically ineligible for not meeting the NCAA academic requirements.
"We appreciate Charmaine's effort and dedication to our program last year," said Walz. "We respect her decision to return to the east coast, to be closer to home so she can concentrate on her academics. We wish Charmaine the best of luck wherever she chooses to continue her career."
A 5-11 sophomore guard from Irvington, N.J., Tay saw action in 30 games last season averaging 3.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. She gave the Cardinals a big lift off the bench during the postseason. Tay scored a career-high 11 points against Xavier in the NCAA Tournament.
