
Philpott Earns Academic All-District Honors

Louisville, Ky. - University of senior placekicker Chris Philpott (Atlanta, Ga.) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 2 Team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Philpott was selected by a vote of members of CoSIDA. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. He must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution and completed at least one full academic year at the school.
Philpott is working on a bachelor's degree in communications with a cumulative 3.72 GPA. He is a three-time Big East All-Academic Football Team selection and a perennial member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
As an All-District honoree, he will now be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration.
Philpott has handled the punting and placekicking duties for the Cardinals this season. He is 9-of-13 on field goals, including tying the school record with a 52-yard field goal versus Rutgers.
