- Louisville has won eight straight season-openers and 17 of its last 19 overall. The Cardinals are 2-0 in season-openers at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals are 66-31 all-time in season-openers, including a 45-12 mark at home.
- Freshman forward Chane Behanan finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds to earn the first points-rebounds double-double for a Louisville player since Preston Knowles had 20 points and 10 rebounds in an 87-60 win over Providence on March 2, 2011.
- Behanan's double-double is the first for a Louisville freshman since Gorgui Dieng had 13 points and 12 rebounds in a 71-58 victory over Connecticut on Feb. 18, 2011.
- The 14 points by Behanan on a 6-for-6 night from the field are the most in a Louisville freshman debut since Samardo Samuels scored 18 points in a 79-41 win over Morehead State on Nov. 22, 2008.
- With his nine assists on Friday, junior guard Peyton Siva finished one assist shy of his career high of 10 set on two different occasions. Overall, Siva finished with 10 points, nine assists and two rebounds in 25 minutes.
- Sophomore forward Gorgui Dieng finished with five blocked shots, two shy of his career high of seven. Dieng has a blocked shot in 25 of his 30 career games as a Cardinal.

It was the first non-exhibition game action for Swopshire since the Cardinals' first round loss to California in the 2010 NCAA Tournament on March 19, 2010.
- Friday's game was just the second all-time between Louisville and UT Martin with the Cardinals holding a 2-0 advantage. U of L is 119-41 all-time against current members of the Ohio Valley Conference.
- The season-opener on Friday was the first of four games for Louisville in the five-team, round-robin Global Sports Invitational. The Cardinals will continue the event by hosting Lamar on Sunday (Nov. 13), Arkansas State on Nov. 22 and Ohio on Nov. 25.
