Senior Jerry Smith tallied 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting and tied a season-high with four 3-point field goals. He was 4-of-7 tonight from behind the arc in the win over Rutgers and also tallied four in a win over Arkansas on 11/17/09. Smith is averaging 15.0 ppg in the last two wins for the Cardinals. Smith also tied a season-high with seven rebounds.
Senior Edgar Sosa tied a season-best with eight assists for the second straight game. Sosa had eight helpers in the win over Connecticut on Monday and added eight of the team's 20 assists tonight. He has handed out four or more assists in 14 games this season.
Sophomore Jared Swopshire tied a career-high with a pair of 3-point field goals, going 2-of-3 from long range. It was the fifth time in his career that he connected on two 3-pointers in a game and the first since St. John's on 1/9/10. With 13 points, it was the first time he scored in double figures since tallying 15 against St. John's on 1/9/10.
Sophomore Jared Swopshire also tallied eight rebounds, marking the third straight game in which he recorded eight or more rebounds in a game.
Sophomore Samardo Samuels recorded his seventh career double-double and fifth this season with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Rutgers.
The Cardinals connected on 9-of-25 from behind the arc, hitting seven or more trifectas for the 17th time this season, Louisville is 7-3 when making more than seven 3-point field goals in a game.
Louisville connected on 54.0 percent shooting from the field in the win over Rutgers, marking the sixth game this season that Louisville shot better than 50.0 percent from the field. Louisville is 81-6 under head coach Rick Pitino when shooting better than 50.0 from the floor.
Louisville held Rutgers to 38.3 percent shooting from the field, marking the ninth time that Louisville held an opponent to less than 40.0 percent shooting from the field.
