
Pitino, Sosa Preview Sunday's Game against Connecticut

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and senior guard Edgar Sosa met with members of the media on Friday at the Yum! Center to preview Sunday's game against Connecticut. The Cards and Huskies will tip off at 2:06 p.m. ET at Gampel Pavillion in Storrs, Conn., and the game will be televised nationally on CBS.
U of L will play the first of its final two road games of the regular season. Louisville, which has won five of its last seven games, fell 70-60 to No. 11/13 Georgetown on Tuesday as Sosa led the Cardinals with 24 points and a season-high matching eight assists.
Connecticut (17-11, 7-8) has won its last three games, including two over top ten opponents: an 84-75 victory at Villanova on Feb. 15 and an 73-62 win over No. 7/8 West Virginia last Monday.
UConn leads the nation in blocked shots (8.1 bpg) and is 13th nationally in field goal percentage defense (.383). Senior guard Jerome Dyson, who has scored 1,549 career points, leads the Huskies in scoring and has produced 20 or more points in 12 games this season (18.7 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 4.6 apg). Sophomore guard Kemba Walker is second in the BIG EAST in assists (5.5 apg, 14.1 ppg). Senior forward Stanley Robinson (15.6 ppg, 7.5 rpg), a career 1,000-point scorer, has scored in double digits in 33 straight games. UConn is No. 40 in the ratings percentage index (RPI) and the Sagarin Ratings through games of Feb. 25.
Louisville has a 3-5 series record against UConn. Earlier this season, Sosa scored 15 points and handed out eight assists as U of L beat Connecticut 82-69 in Freedom Hall (2/1/10).
