LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and sophomore forward Terrence Jennings met with members of the media on Monday at the Yum! Center to preview Tuesday's game against Georgetown. The Cards and Hoyas will tip off at 7:00 p.m. ET at Freedom Hall and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
U of L returns home for one of its two remaining games. Louisville won its third straight and its fifth in six games in winning 68-59 at DePaul on Saturday. Terrence Jennings grabbed a career-high nine rebounds, matched a career-best four blocked shots and scored nine points for the Cardinals, who held a 35-27 rebounding advantage in the game.
Georgetown (18-7, 8-6), No. 11/13, have won two of its last four games, but has dropped two straight: falling 71-68 at Rutgers on Feb. 14 and 75-71 to No. 4/4 Syracuse last Thursday in its last outing.
The Hoyas, which rank third nationally in field goal percentage (.500), is No. 9 in the ratings percentage index (RPI) and is No. 12 in the Sagarin Ratings through games of Feb. 18. Junior Austin Freeman is 10th in the BIG EAST in scoring (17.0) while sophomore center Greg Monroe is fourth in the league in rebounding (9.4).
Georgetown leads the series 5-4, but the Cardinals have won two of the last three meetings. Louisville prevailed 76-58 over the Hoyas last season in Washington, D.C. (2/23/09).
