LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino met with members of the media on Friday at the Yum! Center to preview Saturday's game against DePaul. The Cards and Blue Demons will tip off at 2:00 p.m. ET at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, and the game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
U of L takes to the road for the third time in four games this weekend. Louisville won for the fourth time in its last five games as the Cardinals claimed a 91-89 double overtime victory over Notre Dame on Wednesday.
DePaul (8-17, 1-12) has lost its last seven games since claiming its lone league victory, a 51-50 win over Marquette on Jan. 20. The Blue Demons fell 79-71 to Rutgers at home on Tuesday despite Mac Koswal's 24 points, 12 rebounds and career-high eight steals.
Senior guard Will Walker leads DePaul averaging 16.7 points while Koswal averages 14.3 points and a team-high 9.9 rebounds. The Blue Demons do a good job taking care of the ball, averaging just 11.2 turnovers, which ranks 17th nationally. DePaul is No. 183 in the ratings percentage index (RPI) and is No. 171 in the Sagarin Ratings through Feb. 18.
Louisville leads the series 33-21 and has won five straight and 18 of the last 20 meetings. U of L beat DePaul 99-54 last season in Freedom Hall (2/15/09) as Preston Knowles led five Cardinals in double figures with 19 points.
