LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville sophomore guard/forward Mike Marra has been chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the 2010 Global Sports Shootout.
Marra is off to an impressive start this season, averaging 13.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in a balanced lineup for the 6-0 Cardinals. He has 23 assists and just nine turnovers, a 2.6 assists-to-turnovers ratio which is sixth best in the BIG EAST Conference. His 17 three-pointers this year in six games are just three short of what he made all last season.
Marra was joined on the All-Tournament team by U of L teammate junior center Terrence Jennings, Marshall sophomore guard DeAndre Kane, Chattanooga junior forward Omar Wattad, Jackson State junior guard Jenirro Bush and Florida International junior forward Eric Frederick.
U of L won the Global Sports Shootout by sweeping its four games in the round-robin exempt tournament which ran from Nov. 20 through Dec. 4. It was U of L's 25th regular season tournament championship.
