ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - On another abnormally cool and windy Florida day, the University of Louisville football team completed its final practice on Sunday afternoon with a two-hour session at St. Petersburg Catholic High School.
A little before noon, the squad trotted on to the field and had a light stretch under the direction of Pat Moorer and the strength and conditioning staff. After a quick team huddle, the team broke off into separate groups. On one side of the field, the special teams unit worked together, while the quarterbacks and receivers and the offensive and defensive linemen split off on the other side of the pitch.
Upon completion, the quarterbacks took snaps with their respective units, practicing plays with the receivers. Facing the opposite direction, the offensive and defensive linemen worked on the running game. The Cardinals progressed through the rest of practice, working on punt and kickoff coverage, while the offensive and defensive units practiced under the direction of their respective coaches.
At the end of practice, coach Charlie Strong and selected players met with the media to discuss practice and plans for Tuesday's Beef `O' Brady's Bowl game against Southern Miss. The Dec. 21 contest will be nationally televised on ESPN and will take place at Tropicana Field at 8 p.m. ET.
The Cardinals are idle on Monday. Fans are encouraged to join the U of L band and cheerleaders at the various fan events in St. Petersburg. For more information, visit the Beef `O' Brady's Bowl Central fan page.
