
Strong Previews Friday's Regular Season Finale at Rutgers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville football head coach Charlie Strong and senior quarterback Justin Burke met with reporters on Monday to preview Friday's regular season finale at BIG EAST Conference foe Rutgers. The Cardinals and Scarlet Knights are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m., ET at Rutgers Stadium and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN2.
Last time out, the Cardinals dropped their second-straight home game, falling 17-10 to West Virginia on Saturday. Louisville was held to a season-low 171 yards of total offense and a season-low 26 yards on the ground. Making his third straight start at quarterback, senior Justin Burke was 12-for-24 for 145 yards, but threw a crucial interception on the last drive of the game.
Senior tight end Cameron Graham was the lone bright spot on the Cardinal offense, catching a career-high six passes for 95 yards. He has recorded 33 receptions for 397 yards this season, which is tops amongst BIG EAST tight ends.
The Louisville defense continued to play spirited football, limiting the Mountaineers to 261 yards of total offense .It marked the fifth-straight contest which the Cardinals held an opponent to less than 300 yards of total offense. Senior defensive end Rodney Gnat recorded his team-high eighth sack, which led to a touchdown in the loss. It was the first defensive touchdown for the Cardinals this season.
The Series - Louisville and Rutgers
The Cardinals and Scarlet Knights will meet for the 10th time overall. Rutgers leads the all-time series against Louisville 7-2 and has won the last two meetings in the series, including a 34-14 win in Louisville last season. The Cardinals last win in the series was a 41-38 win at home in 2007.
