TEAM
- The Cardinals improved to 3-0 all-time against Jackson State, having won each of the three meetings by at least 17 points (Saturday's margin was the smallest of the three).
- Louisville has never lost to a current member of the SWAC (6-0). The Cards are also 2-0 versus Prairie View A&M and 1-0 against Alcorn State.
- The Cardinals have now made at least five threes in 22 consecutive games after draining six on Saturday, the eighth-longest active streak in the nation. The only teams with longer current streaks (after Saturday's games) are VMI (74), St. Mary's (41), Northern Colorado (32), Chattanooga (29), Weber State (26), Eastern Kentucky (24), and Canisius (23).
- U of L improves to 2-0 for the fourth consecutive season, having last lost within the season's first two games in 2006-07 (68-64 to Dayton on Nov. 24).
- In the Global Sports Shootout's other contest on Saturday night, Chattanooga escaped with a 69-68 win over Marshall.
- Louisville has held its opponents to a combined .214 (12-for-56) shooting percentage in the first halves of its two games thus far. Butler shot just 23.3 percent (7-for-30), while Jackson State hit 19.2 percent (5-for-26) of its shots in the first stanza.
- Jackson State's 16-point first-half was the lowest total for a U of L opponent since Jan. 19, 2005, when East Carolina had 15 at the break (to Louisville's 52) in a 92-41 Cardinal victory. The 51-point final margin in that game is still tied as the largest margin of victory in a game between two Conference USA teams.
- The Tigers' five first half field goals were the fewest by a Louisville opponent in any half since March 8, 2006, when Pittsburgh went 4-for-20 (.200) in the second half in a 61-56 win over the Cards in the BIG EAST Tournament. Jackson State's shooting percentage (.192) in the half was the lowest for a Cardinal foe in any half since Iona shot 18.8 percent (6-for-32) in the second half on Dec. 29, 2007 (67-36 Louisville win).
- A Louisville opponent has not had fewer first-half field goals since Rick Pitino's first game with the Cardinals. In that contest, South Alabama went 4-for-16 as Louisville jumped out to a 47-15 halftime lead.
- The Tigers' .192 field goal percentage in the opening half was a new Pitino-era first-half opponent low.
- The 46 combined first-half points were the fewest in U of L game since Louisville and St. John's combined for 41 (22-19 Red Storm lead) in the Cards' 60-47 win on Feb. 8, 2009. The 107 total points for the game were the fewest since Louisville defeated Iona 67-36 on Dec. 29, 2007.
PLAYER
- Junior Terrence Jennings (three blocks) has at least one block in eight of Louisville's last nine contests, averaging 2.1 blocks per game over that stretch. The multi-block game was the 30th of Jennings' career, while the three-block game was his 13th.
- For the second consecutive game, Jennings tied a career best with six field goals made (eight attempts). Jennings' 14 points also matched a career best, which he first set on March 4, 2009, versus Seton Hall.
- Also for the second straight game, sophomore Mike Marra tied a career high with four field goals made (including three three-pointers).
- After going five straight games without an assist to end the 2009-10 season, Marra has combined for nine assists and just two turnovers through two games this season. He had 16 assists in 268 minutes last year (or one assist every 16.8 minutes), but is averaging an assist every 7.3 minutes in 2010-11.
- Sophomore Stephan Van Treese set a new career high with two steals against Jackson State.
- Sophomore Peyton Siva set career highs in assists (six), rebounds (five), free throws made (five), and free throws attempted (seven).
- After eight rebounds on Saturday, sophomore Rakeem Buckles now has 28 rebounds, or 9.3 per game, over his last three contests.
