LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's basketball program officially opened the 2010-11 season on Thursday by hosting its annual media day activities at the new KFC Yum! Center.
Head coach Rick Pitino, now in his 10th season at Louisville, and the Cardinal players met with reporters to preview the upcoming season. That was followed by an open practice session and a scrimmage for the media inside U of L's new basketball home on the banks of the Ohio River in downtown Louisville.
The Cardinals return one starter and nine lettermen from last year's squad, which finished 20-13 overall following 77-62 loss to California in the NCAA Tournament. On Wednesday, Louisville selected to finish eighth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Louisville will host a Red-White intrasquad scrimmage on Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. at KFC Yum! Center. U of L will open the exhibition season on Oct. 31 at home against Northern Kentucky at 2 p.m. and will open regular-season play against Butler on Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. at KFC Yum! Center.
