Louisville, Ky. - The 2009 University of Louisville football season officially started on Wednesday when the Cardinals reported to campus to begin practice.
The first practice begins on Thursday at 5:10 p.m., which is open to the public. The Cardinals will also practice at 6:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Cardinal Fan Fest on Friday night. The Cardinal players will sign autographs at the conclusion of practice.
"It's great that football season is finally here," said head coach Steve Kragthorpe. "I'm looking forward to get out on the practice field tomorrow and get to work. Our guys are fired up to get going and begin our preparation for the 2009 season."
Kragthorpe also reported that Sean Farr failed to qualify and will not enroll at the University of Louisville. Wide receiver Damion Dixon will also transfer to a 1-AA school as well. Senior linebacker Mozell Axson had surgery on his knee and will be put on a permanent medical scholarship. Axson will retain his scholarship for the 2009-10.
