
Angel McCoughtry Named WNBA Rookie of the Month

Atlanta, Ga. - Former Louisville All-American Angel McCoughtry was named the adidas WNBA Rookie of the Month for July.
In nine games in July, McCoughtry led all rookies in steals per game (2.0) and ranked third in points per game (10.2). She was nearly perfect from the free throw line during this span, making all but one to rank second among rookies (.944). McCoughtry's then-season high in steals (6), along with her 20 points, came in a 98-95 victory over the 2008 WNBA defending champion Detroit Shock. In five out of the nine games played in July, McCoughtry scored in double-figures. Over the month, she helped the Dream to a 5-4 record.
Below are the highlights of McCoughtry's outstanding month:
July 3 vs. Washington: 14 points on 6-12 shooting from the field in a 72-65 win. July 5 vs. Indiana: 15 points and four assists in a 78-74 loss. July 22 vs. Detroit: Then-career-high six steals and 20 points, including 7-7 on free throws, in a 98-95 win.
