
Field Hockey Falls to Indiana in Scrimmage

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville field hockey team wrapped up preseason play with a 4-1 loss to visiting Indiana Saturday afternoon at Trager Stadium.
The teams played through 10 scoreless minutes before the Hoosiers struck with a goal from Morgan Fleetwood at the 10:18 mark to give IU a 1-0 advantage at the half.
The Cards needed less than a minute into the second half to tie the game. Junior Tuli Lim collected a rebound from Alex Mann's pads and sent the ball into the cage to make the score 1-1 at the 35:52 mark.
Indiana pulled ahead for good six minutes later when a penalty corner resulted in Corey Brautigam's first goal of the game on an assist from Mutsa Mutembwa. Fleetwood added another goal when she connected on a feed from Mutembwa to give the Hoosiers a 3-1 lead.
Brautigam converted another penalty corner opportunity when she netted a rebound for the final goal of the game.
The teams had seven shots each in the second half with the Hoosiers holding the final edge in shots 12-10 and corners 4-3.
Louisville goalkeeper Heather Bustanoby posted four saves in the game, while Mann collected two for the Hoosiers.
The Cardinals will open the 2009 season against NCAA semifinalist Duke on Saturday, August 29 in the Champions Challenge in Durham, N.C. Michigan State and Delaware are also competing in the tournament.
