The Cardinals held Marquette to just 33.9 shooting from the floor, allowing them to hit just 19-of-56 shots. Louisville has held 16 opponents to less than 40 percent shooting from the floor this year, including 10 of its 16 BIG EAST foes.
Today's crowd of 20,079 is tied for the sixth-largest crowd in the history of Freedom Hall.
Marquette came into this afternoon's game averaging 80.0 per game ad were held to just 58, which was the lowest since scoring just 56 in a loss to South Florida on 2/6/09. The Golden Eagles entered the game shooting 47.0 percent from the floor and were held to just 33.9 percent from the field.
Senior guard Andre McGee registered a season-high 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor, which bested his previous season-best of 13 versus UAB on 12/27/08. McGee also connected on a season-high 4-of-7 three-point field goals.
The Cardinals connected on 9-of-26 three-point field goals in the win over Marquette this afternoon, which was the 16th time this season hitting more than eight in a game. The Cardinals are 16-0 this year when hitting more than seven trifectas in a game.
Junior Earl Clark recorded his 23nd double-double and 13th this season with his 10 points and 13 rebounds tonight in the win over Marquette. It was Clark's fourth double-double in his last six games. He has scored in double digits 29 times in his last 33 games dating back to last season.
Senior Terrence Williams recorded two steals to move into sixth-place all-time in school history with 183 thefts, moving past Nate Johnson (1996-2000) who had 182 in his tenure.
With 14 points today, senior Terrence Williams moved into 21st place in school history in career points with 1,452 points, moving past John Turner (1958-61).
