LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and freshman forward Terrence Jennings met with members of the media on Friday at the Yum! Center to preview Sunday's game against St. John's. The No. 5 ranked Cardinals and Red Storm will tip off at 1:34 p.m. ET at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., and the game will be televised by WHAS-TV in Louisville.
Louisville will play its firs of two straight on the road. The game will mark the return of Pitino to his home town and to Madison Square Garden, where he roamed the sidelines as head coach of the New York Knicks for two seasons (1987-89) and also was an assistant coach there (1983-85). U of L fell 51-68 to No. 1 Connecticut on Monday. Senior Terrence Williams leads the Cardinals in scoring (13.4 ppg), rebounding (9.1 rpg), assists (4.5 apg), and steals (2.3 spg).
St. John's (12-10, 3-7 BIG EAST), has won two of its last four, but fell 91-81 at Seton Hall on Feb. 5 in its last game as Paris Horne scored 21 points and D.J. Kennedy added 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Red Storm. Horne leads the Red Storm in scoring, averaging 14.7 points per game. Kennedy leads the team in rebounding (6.9 rpg) and assists (3.1 apg) while scoring 13.3 points an outing.
