
Women's Tennis Falls to No. 33 Tulsa

The 33rd-ranked Tulsa women's tennis team edged 60th-ranked Louisville, 4-3, on Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
"We can't seem to get over the hump in these hump in these tight matches. Our record doesn't reflect it right now but we are just a few points away from being in the top 30," said U of L head coach Mark Beckham.
Tulsa (8-2) fell behind early, losing the doubles point with the No. 1 team of to Natalia Baez and Bianca Gorbea beating Alexandra Kichoutkin and Marta Marcinkowska with an 8-5 decision, and newbies Amelia Harris and Sarah Miller pairting to beat UT's Thalia Diaz-Barriga and Ewa Skatkowska 8-2, in the No. 3 position.
Tulsa responded in singles action with wins from Alexandra Kichoutkin over Lindsey Jones, 6-4, 6-3, in the No. 1 spot, followed by Ewa Szatkowska defeating Amelia Harris, 6-3, 6-2, in No. 6 singles. The Hurricane grabbed a 3-2 lead when Thalia Diaz-Barriga defeated Bianca Gorbea, 7-5, 6-0, in the No. 3 slot.
Louisville tied the match at 3-3 when Lauren Irme defeated Jie Zeng, 7-5, 6-3, in No. 2 singles. Freshman Anastasia Erofeeva defeated Sarah Miller in a three-set marathon in No. 5 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, to clinch the Tulsa victory.
"The girls are tough though and they understand that they are a good team that is having some bad luck right now. We will get it going," said Beckham.
