
Pitino, Sosa Preview Wednesday's Game against Oral Roberts

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and senior guard Edgar Sosa met with members of the media on Tuesday at the Yum! Center to preview Wednesday's game against Oral Roberts. The Cards and Golden Eagles will tip off at 7:07 p.m. ET at Freedom Hall and the game will be televised by WHAS-TV in Louisville.
U of L will play its fourth of eight straight games at home through the month of December. Louisville dropped its second straight as the Cardinals fell 91-83 to Western Carolina on Saturday. Sosa led the Cards with 16 points and Preston Knowles added 15 points in his return from injury. Samardo Samuels is pouring in a team-high 15.4 points per game, while Jared Swopshire leads the team with 6.3 rebounds.
Oral Roberts (6-5), which has beaten Stanford and Missouri this year, has won three of its last four games, but fell 60-54 at Indiana State last Sunday in its last outing. Sophomore Dominique Morrison totaled 17 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Golden Eagles in that contest. Oral Roberts had participated in three straight NCAA Tournaments (2006-08) before missing the post season last year. Oral Roberts is no. 199 in the early ratings percentage index (RPI) rankings and is no. 186 in the Sagarin Ratings through games of Dec. 13.
Louisville has split its only two previous meetings with Oral Roberts. The Golden Eagles won 96-93 over U of L on March 14, 1974 in the NCAA Midwest Region semifinals played at ORU's Mabee Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Cardinals won 122-76 in Freedom Hall on Jan. 2, 1993, the third-highest point total ever for a U of L team.
