LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville football head coach Charlie Strong met with reporters on Friday afternoon at the Howard Schnellenberger Football Complex.
On Wednesday, Strong was hired as the 21st head football coach at the University of Louisville. Strong became the third African-American head coach at a BCS school, and just the second-ever in the BIG EAST Conference. He brings 27 years of collegiate coaching experience, two National Championships and 20 appearances in bowl games to the sidelines of Louisville.
Strong, a three-time finalist for the Frank Broyles Award, comes to Louisville after spending the past seven seasons as the defensive coordinator at the University of Florida; where he defense was third in the nation in scoring defense (11.54 ppg), third in pass defense (151.46), fourth in total defense (253.08) and fifth in pass efficiency defense (93-91).
