
Pitino Previews Wednesday's Game against Stetson

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and freshman guard Mike Marra met with members of the media on Tuesday at the Yum! Center to preview Wednesday's game against Stetson. The Cards and Hatters will tip off at 7:07 p.m. ET at Freedom Hall and the game will be televised by WHAS-TV in Louisville.
U of L returns home for the first of eight straight games through the month of December. The Cards suffered its first loss 76-71 at UNLV last Saturday as Edgar Sosa led the Cards with 18 points. Samardo Samuels paces the squad with 16.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game, while Sosa is adding 13.8 points and 3.4 assists.
Stetson (2-4) has played a challenging schedule. After winning 70-65 over Averett in their opener, the Hatters dropped road games at Florida (74-46), Florida State (80-38) and Charleston Southern (80-64). The Hatters beat Palm Beach Atlantic 85-67 on Nov. 25 and lost 78-56 at USC Upstate on Nov. 30 in its last outing. Stetson is led by freshman guard Tyshawn Patterson and senior guard A.J. Smith, who are averaging 15.3 and 13.3 points, respectively. Smith was a preseason All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection and Stetson was picked seventh in the league. Stetson is no. 328 in the early Sagarin Ratings through games of Nov. 30.
Stetson assistant coach Chris Capko faced the Cards as a player at USF (2005-07). Louisville has a 4-1 series advantage over Stetson, but have not played in 40 years. The Hatters won the last meeting 87-80 on Jan. 17, 1970 in a game played in Orlando, Fla.
