- C Mario Benavides was the only offensive lineman to start all 12 games this season for Louisville.
- WR Trent Guy caught his second touchdown reception this season and the fifth of his career. He also caught five passes for a career-high 107 yards.
- QB Adam Froman threw a touchdown pass in his sixth straight game. Froman threw for 254 yards in the contest, which was his fourth 200-yard passing game this season.
- WR Doug Beaumont also extended his consecutive games with a catch streak to 24 straight games with a reception in the second quarter. He also started his 24th straight game at wide receiver for the Cardinals.
- CB Johnny Patrick, DE Greg Scruggs, DT L.D. Scott, LB Jon Dempsey and CB Chaz Thompson each started their 12th straight game for Louisville.
- The Cardinals recorded at least one sack for the 10th straight game. Louisville finished with a pair of sacks overall on Friday against Rutgers.
- Senior S Chaz Thompson led the Cardinals with nine total tackles, the second highest total of his career.
- Senior S Justin Matthews picked up his first career sack as he got to Rutgers' QB Tom Savage on a third down play late in the third quarter. Overall, Matthews matched a career-high with seven tackles, including 2.5 for loss.
- Louisville honored 21 seniors prior to Friday's game. The Cardinals' 2009 senior class finished with a 27-22 record overall.
- With Friday's loss, the Cardinals finished with a 4-2 record at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in 2009.
