
Pitino Previews Saturday's Home Opener against East Tennessee State

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Louisville men's basketball head coach Rick Pitino and sophomore guard Kyle Kuric met with members of the media on Friday at the Yum! Center to preview Saturday's home opener against East Tennessee State in the Hall of Fame Showcase. The Cards and Buccaneers will tip off at 4:07 p.m. ET at Freedom Hall and the game will be televised by WHAS-TV in Louisville.
U of L will open the home portion of its schedule with the first of three games in three consecutive days. U of L launched its 2009-10 season last Tuesday with a 96-66 victory over Arkansas in the Hall of Fame Showcase in St. Louis, connecting on 15-of-38 three-point goals. The Cards starting five all finished in double digit scoring, while senior guard Reginald Delk came off the bench to lead all scorers with 20 points.
An NCAA Tournament participant last season, East Tennessee has dropped two of its first three outings, winning 62-58 in a Hall of Fame Showcase game on Nov. 14; falling 85-76 at Chattanooga on Tuesday; and losing 72-61 at Morgan State on Thursday. Junior forward Tommy Hubbard totaled 19 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Morgan State. The Buccaneers posted a 23-11 record last year, won the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament and participated in the NCAA Tournament. East Tennessee State is no. 161 in the early Sagarin Ratings through games of Nov. 19.
The Hall of Fame Showcase will continue for the Cardinals with two more games in Freedom Hall against Morgan State on Sunday, Nov. 22 and Appalachian State on Monday, Nov. 23.
