- LB Jon Dempsey, who entered the game leading the BIG EAST in tackles, recorded a team-high nine solo stops tonight. He had five straight games with double-digit tackles entering tonight's contest.
- S Richard Raglin broke up a career best two passes, matched a season high with six tackles (4 solo, 2 assists) and had one tackle for a loss of three yards. He had one career pass break up entering tonight's game.
- QB Adam Froman made his first career start at quarterback for the Cardinals against Pittsburgh, replacing Justin Burke, who was slowed by an injury. Froman, who connected on 18-of-30 passes for 166 yards, completed passes to nine different receivers. He made his debut last week at Utah on the kickoff and punt return teams.
- S Justin Mathews made his first start at safety, while CB Chaz Thompson, who started the first three games at safety, made his first start at cornerback
- FB Joe Tronzo recorded his first rushing touchdown of his career with a one-yardd touchdown run in the first quarter.
- WR Doug Beaumont threw a 38-yard pass to wide receiver Josh Chichester, which was the longest pass reception of his career. It was also the longest pass completion in the game for the Cardinals. On the receiving end for Beaumont, it was the 16th straight game he has caught a pass.
- Louisville fell to 10-5 at home in BIG EAST Conference games (since 2005). The Cards' next outing will be its homecoming game against non-conference foe Southern Mississippi next Saturday.
- LB Chris Campa recorded his first career sack in the second quarter.
